The Bad, The Better, and The Bald.

This is the story of a haircut gone wrong.
I won't completely blame my poor mother because I failed to inform her that at the time, Matthew didn't like the sound of hair clippers. They scared him.
In the summer of 2006 Matthew went to stay with his PopPop and Nana (my parents) for two weeks. I guess while he was there my mother noticed his hair getting long so she decided to take matters into her own hands and give him a haircut. It shouldn't have been a big deal cause I had been cutting his hair for years. But what she didn't know what that all those haircuts were usually tear filled scream fests. He HATED the hair clippers. He didn't like the sound they made, especially when they were right next to his ears. It drove him mad! But we endured it cause we didn't have the money to go get his hair professionally cut and I didn't want him walking around looking all scruffy.
So fast forward to the day we met Matthew and my mom at the airport to pick him up. It had been 2 weeks since we had seen our little boy. We were excited to have him back. He walks off the plane and "what the..." I think were my exact words. I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

So yeah, not the greatest haircut. I decided to just go ahead and finish the job and just buzz it all off. Of course we had to have a little fun with it and gave him a temporary mohawk.

Matt of course decided to join in the fun. He told me to buzz all his hair off too. I adamantly refused until he said if I didn't do then he would.
So more fun ensued as well as another mowak.

This is the second part of the story...
After completely BUZZING their heads I clean up and go to the store for something. I come back home and Matt and Matthew are locked in the bathroom. I ask what they are doing and Matt says "You'll find out in a little bit! hahaha!"
They come out and my jaw hits the floor. He had taken a razor and completely shaved their heads!! I mean, it was bad enough that I to buzz it. But to completely shave it off!!! Aaarrgh!
On the bright side, Matthew didn't seem to mind.

This is what we were left with. We fondly refer to this picture as "Pinky and The Brain." Classic.

Number 10!!

Matthew had his first game last night. Although his team didn't win, they played a good game. We are so proud of our #10!!

Batting...he made it all the way to 2nd base!

He's running to 2nd. He was so fast I barely got a picture of him!!

Right before the game. I just had to take some pictures of him in his cute uniform. He didn't really like me taking pictures of him in front of his friends though.

David's 1st Birthday / Nana & Pop-Pop's Visit

David Bowen Shoemaker was born on May 11, 2008 at 7:35 am. He was my Mother's Day present. What a wonderful present.
We celebrated his birthday on Saturday May 9, 2009. His Nana and Pop-Pop flew in from Arizona. My dad hadn't seen him since he was 4 months old, my mom came to see us in March. So he had changed alot since the last time they saw him.
Here is David with his Pop-Pop. He loved that cake!
He happily snuggled with his Nana.

Mmm...juice!

He got ahold of Pop-Pop's cup.

Pop-Pop and the boys.

Daffodils

I posted a while back about how we had found all these tulip bulbs and that we planted them around a tree. Well they came up...and they are daffodils. No offense to daffodils, I was just really wanting them to be tulips. Oh well. We are going to plant tulips in between the rows of daffodils, I think that will look really pretty. Here are some pics of the flowers.

I went around with my trusty camera and took some pictures of our property.

Here is our dog Dax

Our garden. It's the biggest garden we've ever had. Can't wait to see the veggies of our labor!

We planted:

tomatoes (roma and big boy)

bell peppers

jalapenos

oni0ns

purple and green cabbage

eggplant

cauliflower

broccoli
A big dandelion I found in our yard.

So, I wasn't going to post this, but this is our concrete pond (aka pool) We are working on it now to get it all cleaned out. The first step was to get the millions of frogs out. Matthew took care of that for us, so we are now pumping out the nasty water. Then we'll be ordering a new liner for it. Summer...here we come!! :)

Frogs and Flying Babies

Yesterday, Matthew and his friend Jana went out to our concrete pond (aka pool) and caught some of the noisy frogs that had taken up residence there. They caught 16 total!! Jeez! And believe it or not, there are still some in there. They were relocated to the local creek. The frogs, not the kids...haha! Matthew also had baseball practice yesterday. They worked on catching grounders and flyballs and practiced their batting. He enjoyed being outside.

I took these pictures of David just a couple of minutes ago. Matt was outside with him, throwing him up in the air and I instantly was inspired to catch him mid-flight. We had a good laugh looking at them. I gave Matt a workout cause I kept making him throw David up in the air until I caught the perfect moment.
The first one is my favorite. He looks like a giant baby sittin in a tree..haha!!
